Schaffhausen, 8th September 2022: As part of a comprehensive update to its Portofino line, IWC Schaffhausen has reworked and extended the Portofino Automatic 34 ladies’ collection. Joining this range of elegant ladies’ watches is the Portofino Automatic Day & Night 34, the first 34-millimetre Portofino to feature a charming day & night complication. The classic Portofino Automatic 34 has been improved in numerous details and is available in six new versions. The entire collection is fitted either with calfskin straps or a newly developed high-grade 5-link stainless steel bracelet.
The Portofino is a refined watch, notable for its freshness and the purity of its lines. Thanks to its classic and timeless design, it is incredibly versatile and easily paired with a casual or elegant outfit. With its reduced case diameter of 34 millimetres, the Portofino Automatic 34 is the perfect choice for more slender wrists and offers excellent wearing comfort. Following the initial launch of this model in 2019, IWC is now extending the collection and upgrading this successful ladies’ watch in numerous details.
LARGER DIAMONDS AND I MPROVED SETTING
For the models featuring diamond-set bezels, the shape of the case has been optimised to accommodate larger stones of 1.7 millimetres. The dial and the case of these references are decorated with 66 diamonds totalling almost 1 carat. In addition, because of an improved setting, the diamonds reflect the light better and have a more visible presence and added brilliance. IWC has also applied a new type of sunray finish to the silverplated dials. This surface treatment makes the dials appear softer and even more refined.
CALFSKIN STRAP OR NEW STAINLESS STEEL BRACELET
The Portofino Automatic 34 collection is now fitted with new straps and bracelets. Some models feature calfskin straps with a butterfly folding clasp. These straps have a natural and soft finish and boast a contemporary, luxurious look. Other references are fitted with a newly developed high-grade 5-link stainless steel bracelet with polished and satin-finished surfaces. This sophisticated bracelet with a modern design is highly comfortable to wear. All models feature a quick-change system, making it possible to change the strap or bracelet using a small tool supplied with every timepiece.
The Portofino Automatic Day & Night 34 is the first 34-millimetre Portofino with a poetic day & night complication, which provides a particularly charming visualisation of t he p assing of t ime. A d isc a t 6 o’clock rotates around its axis once every 24 hours and indicates whether it is currently day or night. At noon or midnight, the sun or the moon appears in the upper area of the display. The colour of the celestial bodies matches the hands and appliques.
The Portofino Automatic 34 was first introduced to the collection in 2019 and continues the tradition of Portofino ladies’ watches from the 1980s. With this model, IWC offers a casual yet elegant timepiece in an easily wearable size for women. The enhanced versions feature new colour combinations, calfskin straps with a butterfly folding clasp, and the new 5-link stainless steel bracelet.
The new Portofino Automatic Day & Night 34 and Portofino Automatic 34 models are available as of autumn 2022 through IWC boutiques, authorised retail partners or online at IWC.com. They are eligible for registration under the My IWC care program, benefitting from a 6-year extension to the standard 2-year International Limited Warranty.
